Mini laptops for travel and small desks
Four compact machines: an 8-inch touch mini, an 11-inch touch laptop, and two folding dual-screen models at 10.5 and 11 inches.
Read the full introduction
Small laptops solve a specific problem: a machine that must be carried constantly, or used in a space where a 15-inch screen will not fit — a van cab, a stock room, a counter, a hospital trolley. The four models here run full desktop software rather than a mobile operating system, which is why they are useful for line-of-business tools.
Two are single-screen machines (8-inch and 11-inch touch) and two are folding dual-screen models (10.5 and 11 inches) that open into a small multi-window desk. The dual-screen models cost more and, in the 10.5-inch case, are quoted without a keyboard or pen — a detail worth reading before comparing prices.
Buying guidance
What separates these machines
- Decide whether you need one screen or two. Two panels double the usable surface and roughly double the cost.
- An 8-inch panel suits forms, terminals and lookups; it is not a spreadsheet machine.
- The 11-inch single-screen model has a backlit keyboard and webcam, which the 8-inch and the folding models do not all publish.
- Check what is in the box: the Twin 10 is quoted without keyboard or pen, while the Pocket models include a keyboard.
- Memory matters more than screen on these machines — browser tabs and chat apps eat 8 GB quickly, so 16 GB is the comfortable floor for daily use.
Questions about mini laptops
Is a mini laptop a tablet?
No. These run Windows (Windows 11 Pro on the Pocket models, Windows 10 or 11 on the Duo 11) with a physical keyboard, so they run the same desktop software as a larger laptop.
Which mini laptop has the largest screen?
The Duo 11 and Pocket 11 both list 11-inch displays. The Twin 10 uses two 10.5-inch panels and the Pocket 8 a single 8-inch panel.
Can I use one as my only computer?
Only if your work is forms, terminals, chat, email and reference material. Long documents, spreadsheets and multi-window work are better on a 14-inch or larger machine.
Why does the Twin 10 exclude a keyboard?
Vidar lists the quoted configuration as not including a keyboard or pen. That is a material difference from the other models, so it is stated on the product page and confirmed on the quotation.
