Student laptops for coursework and campus
Ten laptops from entry 14-inch machines to a dual-screen convertible and a Core i7 with discrete graphics.
Read the full introduction
Student buyers usually arrive with two constraints: a software list and a budget. This collection spans both ends of that — an Intel N4000 14-inch machine for documents and browser research, and a Core i7-1165G7 with discrete MX450 graphics for engineering, design or media coursework.
Between those sit the dual-screen and convertible models that suit note-taking and reading, and the 11-inch mini laptops for students who carry a machine all day. Choosing well is mostly about naming the software first and the screen size second.

What separates these machines
- List the software the course actually requires before choosing. Office and browser work needs little; CAD, statistics or media editing changes the answer.
- A discrete GPU (Vidar Perform 15) matters only if the course software uses one.
- Dual-screen models help with reference-while-writing, but they cost more and weigh more than a single-panel laptop.
- For a machine carried daily, 11-inch and 14-inch models beat 15.6-inch and 16-inch ones on portability; weight figures are unpublished, so ask.
- Buy storage at order. Course media libraries grow, and the 1 TB options cost less than replacing a machine later.
Questions about student laptops
Which laptop is right for an engineering or design course?
Start with the software list. If it names a GPU or recommends one, the Perform 15 with MX450 is the entry point; if it needs RTX-class acceleration, look at the Vortex range. Otherwise a Flex 14 or Everyday 15 with 16 GB is a sensible baseline.
Are student discounts available?
No student pricing is published. Prices are the same configured-to-order bands for every buyer, and every quote is written per configuration.
Is a dual-screen laptop useful for study?
It is useful when the work is reading one source while writing another — essays, casework, code and documentation. It is less useful for a single app used full screen, where the second panel goes unused.
Do these laptops include Office or antivirus?
No software bundle beyond the operating system is published. Office, antivirus and any student licensing are separate purchases.
